There's a submission form, but here's the text provided:

The Minnesota Star Tribune is working on a story and photo essay centered on subjects from photos and videos during Operation Metro Surge.

We have several photos in which the subject is unidentified. If you are pictured in any of the above photos and you would like to be contacted to participate in this story, please fill out the form below.

For the project, subjects will be photographed and interviewed about how the surge has affected their lives. If you have any questions about this project, please contact Kyeland Jackson Kyeland.jackson@startribune.com or Nicole Norfleet Nicole.norfleet@startribune.com.

After 24 years, I am finally giving up my old car and updating to a new one. Since the Blue Book value is less than $1K, I thought I'd donate it to Newgate School instead.

It's actually in pretty decent condition - I've maintained it well and still haven't quite cracked 100K miles - but there are some dings to remove and a few things that need repairs as would be expected.

But I wanted to see if anyone has experience donating there? I'm trying to figure out how easy the process is and how promptly they turn around and give you the IRS donation value.

Thanks for any info you can share!

Edited to add: Thanks for all the input!

A few things:

  • I am NOT looking to sell - I'm looking to make a charitable donation and Newgate seemed less shady than other options, but was looking for redditor experiences. Also this wouldn't be for several months now - those of you who commented or reached out about needing a running car, I will be using it for several more months.
  • I would love to keep it - lower property tax, lower insurance, no car payment - but I need to upgrade because I now need a car that accommodates my mobility issues a bit better as far as ingress/egress and actual handling.
  • I will be giving it away with some misty eyes, trust me - this is only the second car I ever owned, I keep and maintain my cars a long time!
