Baby in his own room

Hi! We consider putting 11 weeks old baby in his own bedroom since he is getting too big for his little bassinet (it moves a lot when he moves) and he would be much more comfortable (I bought a quality mattress in his room vs the very thin and hard « mattress » in the bassinet). Also, he makes a lot of noise and my boyfriend snores so everyone would sleep better.

I just bought a monitor and our rooms are one in front of the other.

I wonder why the SIDS risk is higher when baby is not in the parents’ room… If we’re asleep and he forgets to breath, I won’t know more in our room than if we’re in separate rooms… There’s nothing in his bed and he’s not too hot either.

Baby monitor

Hi! What monitor did you get? There are so many, different prices and functions. Wifi or no wifi, different quality and options…

I’ve read good things about the Eufy s21.

Baby cries at every bath

Hello, our baby is now 10 weeks and cried every single time after a bath. He enjoys the bath, being in the hot water… But when he goes out even if we are fast to dry him and dress him up, he will cry intensely for 5-10 minutes… :( Do you have tips?

Also, we need to be two since it’s a high bath and baby doesn’t hold his head. Should I try in the sink?

Bedside bassinet

Hi! I bought a bedside bassinet from Amazon and I don’t like it. The « mattress » is a thin thin foam on plastic covered cardboard. It looks soooo uncomfortable. I get that it needs to be firm to be safe but there’s a limit. I had bought something to put over it but it wasn’t a good fit and it was written on it that it was unsafe to do so… No thanks, I returned it. It’s also a bit unstable now he weighs 14 pounds and moves a lot. It moves when he dances…

But I love the fact it’s big, sides are see through, it has nice wheels and one side can be zipped down to see him better.

I want to buy another one more more comfortable. Some are very cheap looking even in Canadian stores… Maxicosy one looks nice but I think it very firm too. I saw it on marketplace for around 200$. I saw the Evenflo Cora that can fit longer since you can make it taller and there’s an arm with light (don’t know if it’s really useful). But baby is 10 weeks and I will probably have him in his room in a few weeks/months.

Thanks!

Fisher price piano mat

Hello! I bought the kick and play piano mat in the soft colors since it was prettier! 😅 My baby really loves it, but I keep seeing reviews on the other one playing songs with lyrics (purple monkey in a bubblegum tree) and mine is only music (4 songs) and a piano sound, switching music when he presses another one.

I wonder if I should buy another one and if so, the Deluxe or the glow and grow? Both have the monkey song but I don’t know about the other fonctions!

It’s such a great investment! My baby usually only wants to be in our arms or cries, even when he sleeps during the day, he knows if we try to put him in his bed and immediately cries. This toy allows us to eat or do some tasks without the baby!

Thanks!

Pitcher method and 70 degrees water

Hi! We do the pitcher method and have switched to Kendamil. The instructions precise to boil water, letting it cool down to 70 C (less than 30 minutes). I’ve read it’s a UK recommandation and that it’s not the formula that requires that. Especially since there are probiotics in it it seems a bad idea to mix it while hot, no? I’m also afraid of nutrient loss.

In Canada it’s not recommended to use hot water, unless baby is very young, low weight or compromised immune system.

So, my question is, if we do the pitcher method and want to put the formula to the fridge for up to 24 hours, wouldn’t it help the bacterial growth to mix with hot water (when heated formula, should be thrown away after 2 hours..)? Is the pitcher compatible with 70 degrees water?

Or it should be an individual bib every time and water should be boiled every time? Seems like a lot of gestion to let it cooldown and then making it cold enough for baby!

I don’t know if I’m clear enough, I’m tired! Thanks 😊
