Hi! American here - We have a family home in Southern Switzerland at the border of Italy. As such, we have a free home base in the lakes region of Northern Italy. We usually go for 3 weeks in the Summer and I like to plan a few days elsewhere to give my kids a lot of exposure. But we can’t venture too far as we are a family of 5 and it gets expensive. I don’t want to pay for another flight. I’m looking for recommendations as to a new area we may have overlooked. Im specifically looking at areas around Switzerland so France, Italy, Germany, western Austria.

For those that know the region well, what would you recommend?

We’ve been to: Monaco , the French Riviera, the Italian riviera: cinque Terre, leirici, Portovenere, Rome, Florence, Verona, Venice, lake Como, Borromean islands.. a bunch of small towns in Northern Italy and of course Switzerland.

I guess I’m looking for recommendations around Switzerland as long as the drive isn’t more than 5 hours or speed train is ok too. Ideally we’d spend a few days
In this location then fly back home to the US from there. We love nature, but also enjoy sight seeing and we are traveling with teenagers. Thank you for your input!

Hi! I’m in the midst of planning our Summer vacation and need advice from people who know this area. We have a family home in Southern Switzerland (Italian region) and I’m trying to find a new place to explore being that our home base is in Switzerland. I like to expose my kids to new places and countries while there (besides just staying in Switzerland)

I’m trying to figure out where to go for a few days at the end of out trip. We will have a rental car so we can drive there from So. Switzerland and fly home from there. A speed train would also be ok.

We’ve been to most of northern Italy and the south of France. Any ideas?

I’m definitely in Perimenopause my last period was last Summer so unless something changes, I’m at the end. Overall I think I’ve been fine. My moods - eh? But life is pretty tough for everyone these days right, politically, financially, every day stress of children and aging pets and parents. I’ve had my bad days, sure, but I’m not overly sensitive. I’m not overly cranky. In fact I feel like I’m wanting peace more so I just ignore people who piss me off. My main physical complaints are ibs flare ups, bloating, right side pain etc but it’s not daily. Comes and goes. Other physical things, Flareups of tension headaches (neck pain) when I’m particularly stressed about something, and vision changes had to up my prescription and dealing with eye floaters. Hot flashes not really. Weight is fine. Thinning hair but biotin and minoxidil seems to work. I’m on multivitamins. I feel strong, and mostly happy. I’m not depressed and my anxiety ramps up only with issues relating to my kids and don’t happen just because. And I’ve always been the anxious type. Feeling very nostalgic lately. But not to the point of wishing I did things differently but more so, understanding why I did the things I did and showing myself grace, understanding past relationships. I’m actually very appreciative of my life. My question is: Am I supposed to go on hormones? Would these help any of my symptoms or should I just ride things out? I hear both sides to the hormones argument. Do symptoms get worse in menopause? Thanks for listening!

Hello! I am new owner of a 2024 Q8. Got a great deal on one (from dealer) low miles, looks brand new! But I have a few questions

  1. Tesla chargers. We bought a connector and it won’t reach my car. Is there a specific connector you use?

  2. this new brake recall - after reading up on it I saw a couple of articles saying that there’s been a ton of other recalls. Are these minor? What have you experienced?

Thank you! Still learning my new car!

My daughter (18) is a senior. And out of nowhere her mental health plummeted last month when it was time to pick schools. Severe anxiety hit. So bad she would just be nauseous all the time and could not eat. And she had to go on low dose medication (mirtazapine)to calm her nerves and gain appetite. Her Dr thinks is it due to severe separation anxiety (she’s very close to me and was very attached as a baby) about leaving home, and grief Bec she’s very social and has a huge group of friends who are all scattering across the country. Her Dr strongly advised community college/ to wait until she’s ready. But my daughter really wants to go away, experience joining a sorority become more independent. She doing much better now. And she chose a school 45 min away. It’s her safety school. A good school. But no where near her dream school which was hundreds of miles away. We figured although it’s not her dream school, it’s a good school and she’s not too far from home. I made her make the decision herself and did not pressure her at all but secretly I’m relieved. Mostly Bec I was worried what if she started getting anxious again. But I truly feel bad for my daughter Bec this is supposed to be such an exciting time in life. I can’t help but feel she’s settling. All her friends are going to top schools and she chose a safety.

I was wondering how common this is? To feel this much anxiety about leaving home? Again this is not regular anxiety everyone feels - she could not eat :( She’s normally a very confident, social, popular girl so this caught me completely by surprise. I told her she could always transfer in a year or two if she hated it. But I can’t help but feel I did something wrong. She’s 18 not a baby! Can you have separation anxiety at 18?
