Fenix 7 Pro vs Instinct 3 AMOLED (50mm) — Need Help Deciding

I’m trying to decide between two Garmin watches and could use some real‑world input:

• Instinct 3 AMOLED (50mm) — already bought it, still sealed

• Fenix 7 Pro Solar (47mm, stainless steel, no Wi‑Fi) — I can get it for $299 New

My main activities are mountain biking, golfing, snowboarding, and daily health tracking

I know the Fenix has full topo maps, ClimbPro, better GPS and full golf course maps. The Instinct 3 AMOLED is lighter, has a nicer screen, and is on Garmin’s newer “unified code base,” which some people say might mean longer software support.

My questions:

  • For MTB navigation, is the Fenix mapping a big upgrade over Instinct’s breadcrumb line?
  • For golf, is the difference between distances-only (Instinct) and full hole maps (Fenix) worth it?
  • Does the “unified code base” actually matter for long‑term updates, or is the Fenix 7 Pro still going to be supported for years?
  • Anyone worn both — how different are they for daily comfort?

Since I can’t return the Instinct 3, I’d have to resell it sealed if the Fenix is the better long‑term choice. Curious what others would do.

Thanks for any insight.
