Gifts for thesis supervisors
I'm soon completing my bachelor's thesis and I was wondering about the customs/cultural norms regarding gifts in the Netherlands. I want to show my appreciation but I also don't want to cause embarrassment by accident.
In my country it's customary to give gifts to all teachers, for example in elementary and high school the class buys something small together such as a flower or some chocolate, but for thesis supervisors it's customary to give something bigger like a good bottle of wine.
I know that here the logic is kinda "they get paid to supervise you" but it doesn't sit right with me, also my supervisor went above and beyond to help me. I was thinking of something small like flowers, maybe a handwritten note. I also don't want it to come off as bribery or whatever. I would love any input on this!
