AIO concerning sounds from neighbor
to not get into too much of it, I have a neighbor who seems to either be struggling with mental health issues or possibly using drugs. I can often hear him banging aggressively on the walls, and when he bangs on our adjoining wall it will make my photo frames fall off that’s how loud/aggressive it is. I wonder if it’s drugs because they happen it’s periods of 5 minutes and then stop. I can often hear him slapping himself as well, whether that’s his face or body. My walls are thick, I rarely hear my other neighbors. I’m a new yorker and don’t care to get into people’s business so normally I would ignore any sound from a neighbor but these sounds genuinely concern me. I’ve also heard him hacking/spitting for 5-10 mins on end. I have contacted the non emergency line once and my building has as well (due to sounds coming from his apartment) for wellness checks when the banging has been especially concerning. Does anyone have any insight on to what this may be? I don’t want to have to keep calling wellness checks on him if I’m overreacting, but I feel genuinely concerned. I’m also a single young woman and it makes me nervous especially at night. Any insight is appreciated.
