AITAH for been mad at my ex boyfriend for using a gift he got for me?
For context my ex boyfriend and I dated for 4 years before our families broke us up because of cultural differences, since then we have continued being together however no one knows about it including our friends.
After we “broke up” his friends were horrible to me and expressed how happy they were we ended things because I could never fit in their culture.
My ex boyfriend took a trip with his friends and whilst on the trip he got me something, I was super excited about it and have wanted it for a very long time, earlier today my ex calls to tell me that he’s on his way back and will be getting the said gift however his friends took it out of the packing the night before and used it. But he’s washed it clean and wants to gift it to me anyway.
I wouldn’t usually get so worked up about it but it bothers me that he didn’t think how I would feel if the guys that belittle me were to use my gift before me, and it feels like I’m getting someone’s hand me downs.
I got furious and decided I didn’t want to continue talking to him because he doesn’t understand why I would find this offensive, so am I the asshole?
