What songs from the show have been pastiches of actual songs or musical acts?
I love when the show features an original song by Bouchard and company that successfully evokes the sound of real songs or musicians. One of my favorites is Gene's "Glamoridoo" song, that's clearly based on "Jeepster" and the general sound of T-Rex. And Linda's "Kids Run The Restaurant," an homage to "Anything Goes."
Some others I can think of: "Let's Swap Eyes" from the air show episode really gives Daft Punk. Fitting, since Gene and Alex appeared in DP robot masks in their roommate fantasies.
"Freaky Antiquies" from "The Twinnening," is so B-52s they actually got Fred Schneider.
This may just be me, but "If You Love Something (Set It On Fire)" from "Sacred Couch" really sounds to me like They Might Be Giants. Like, Linnell doing the spoken part, then Flansburgh singing the chorus. Anyone else get that one?
