On HSR’s New Lightcone (and why it matters for our Dottore, probably)

Hello! Welcome to my little yap corner! No, you’re not reading that title wrong. And no, I’m not writing this on the wrong subreddit. This is a little food for thought that I genuinely think could give us some insights to how Hoyoverse storylines tie in flames and rebirths into their lore and world building, which will be relevant considering our current theories surrounding our little scientist

So, Honkai Star Rail just announced a new 5 star SP of Blade… and that means he gets a new designated Lightcone, too. The Lightcone is titled Reforged in Hellfire. (For non HSR players, a Lightcone is like weapons in Genshin) This just got me thinking, but..

In the description of the Lightcone, the second half of it reads:

“Since my time has not yet come, I shall forge myself anew." With despair as the furnace and this body as the catalyst, he has lost count of how many times he has endured such agony.

"I shall take death as my hammer, and I wIl.. sever this fate!!" At the instant of rebirth, the flames scatter and surge toward the heavens, burning all the way to the edge of the farshore.

In that moment, all karmic debts are settled. The new body, tempered through a thousand trials, has finally been forged.

——

Now I may be a bit… delusional…. (As many Dottore truthers are at this moment) And I am aware that the two are two separate games. But if there have been Genshin easter eggs in HSR, and reservedly, HSR easter eggs in Genshin… it would not be farfetched to assume that narrative themes and symbols can reemerge across HYV games.

I find the particular word choices “sever this fate” and “all karmic debts are settled” particularly interesting, as it suggests the use of a fire, be it literal or symbolic, can be used to suggest a form of cleansing, atonement, and new life. If we assume this theme to be applicable to Teyvat, then our current theories on the (6.6 spoilers) >!rebirth of a new Zandik/Dottore - no longer bound by his fate as a heretic - through Omega’s death and the “reforging” of his souls become more believable. The name of the Lightcone itself also labels the flames as a Hellfire, which lines up with the visuals of Omega being dragged down by the other segments in the 6.6 cutscene.!<

These are just some similarities to our theories so far.. and the timing.. it just got me thinking. Even then, it’s just a little food for thought. A little pattern I noticed, perhaps.

Or you can tell me I’m insane and pulling shi out of my ahh, bcs I probably am.

PS; if there are any mistakes in this, let me know! I’m only human after all, and I have not caught up with HSR after Penacony.

Anyway, thanks for reading and happy Hopeposting! <3
