[Academic Survey] Dog owner experiences of hip dysplasia, hip pain and hip mobility problems

Hi everyone,

I’m a university student from imperial college london and I’m currently researching canine hip dysplasia, hip pain and mobility challenges in dogs.

This topic is personal to me, as I had a German Shepherd who suffered from hip dysplasia. Through this project, I’m hoping to better understand how owners recognise symptoms, manage their dog’s mobility, what treatments or support methods they have tried, and what challenges they face day to day.

I’ve created a short anonymous survey for dog owners, and these experiences could help inform better support for senior dogs and dogs with long-term mobility problems in the future. It should take less than 5 minutes to complete.

The survey is for academic research only and does not provide veterinary advice. Please do not include your name, contact details or any identifying personal information in your answers.

Thank you so much to anyone who takes the time to respond. Your experience would be really valuable for my university project.

[Academic Survey] Owner experiences of dogs with hind leg mobility challenges

Hi everyone,

I'm a student at Imperial College London conducting research into how owners of dogs with hind leg mobility challenges manage their dog's condition. This is personal to me as I had a German Shepherd who suffered from mobility issues, which is what inspired this research.

I'm looking for owners whose dogs experience difficulty with hind leg movement or hip-related mobility challenges such as hip dysplasia. I'm particularly interested in understanding what support methods, aids, or treatments owners have tried.

This community feels like the right place to ask, given the support and experience here. If you or someone you know has relevant experience, I'd really appreciate it if you could fill in a short anonymous survey, it takes less than 5 minutes.

The survey is for academic research only and does not constitute or replace veterinary advice. Participants should be 18 or over. Please don't include any personal identifying information in your answers.

Thank you so much, every response really does make a difference!
