Like I said, the only show in the book is *Faust*, while the musical has three- *Hannibal, Il Muto, and Don Juan Triumphant*. The latter is the only one taken from the book, and even then, it’s only mentioned. Was there a reason for that? I have two guesses- more opportunities for original music, or different time frame. Judging by a line in “Masquerade”, there’s either three or six months between acts one and two, while there is no such time jump in the book.

Whenever I get Indian food, whether it’s curry, tikka masala, or anything else, it always has something in it that makes it taste like potpourri.
