Why is it so hard to awaken! Emma Bartali refuses to talk to me
[ SOLVED ] - Contacted support, they informed me that a 'Land of the Morning Light' quest was blocking the interaction. If this happens to you, make sure you give Emma a necklace from this questline!
First up, I apologise in advance if this is something so obviously clear but I've been trying to figure this out for literal hours...
I'm a new BDO player on a season character and hit level 56. I accepted the awakening quest:
[Tamer Awakening] Small Steps
Objective:
"Ask Emma Bartali about last night's dream"
I go to Emma Bartali at Bartali Farm, press R, and she only gives normal NPC dialogue (trade / node management etc.). There is NO quest option. She also says: "You must meet a certain requirement to obtain this NPC's knowledge. Visit the NPC marked on the world map, then return to acquire the knowledge".
No problem, but there is NOTHING marked on the minimap... I've looked over it 10 times by now, gone over everything on there and there is no indicator.
Things I've already checked:
- Awakening quest is active and selected in Black Spirit
- All quest types are enabled
- Tried pressing R instead of opening chat manually
- Relogged / Server swap
- Forfeit quest and retry
- Navigated quest, takes me to Emma
- I'm also partway through The Magnus questline ([The Magnus] To Gabino Farm! currently in progress). Someone pointed out I should do this first, but then I noticed its like 90 quests long?? I forfeitted should in case
Do I actually need to progress Magnus?
Is there hidden knowledge required?
Or am I talking to the wrong Emma / missing something obvious?
It might be worth noting that I chose "simplified" story, think I progressed years ago before the reset.
