Cost change within few hours
Hello, just genuinely curious if this is how it works or what.
Yesterday I found well priced flights from Calgary to Cancun, 4 people round trip for around $3800 econoflex with options for 100% or 80% cancel for any reason, I think it was $4300 in total including 100% CFAR. I did not book them right away as I had to discuss dates with my wife.
Then few hours later I come back and price went up to $5500 and there was no more option for 100% cancel for any reason, just 80%. I checked on number of devices with different IP address and on one with private browsers and same thing. Price just kept going up and no option for 100% CFAR whatsoever(regardless if ultrabasic, econo, econoflex etc).
Dates are few months from now(end of August), so I am genuinely curious was I such a bad luck that several other people booked lower priced flights in those few hours(for pretty much off season in Mexico) or they just somehow track my interest and keep increasing the price forcing me to buy for higher price?
I never seen that with some other airlines, price doesn't change hourly, or by minute(more like weekly) so I am little bit confused.
Also, when I search flights on their web it shows lowest price flights but once selected and you go to a next page price goes up like crazy. Like they advertise those days flights $275, then you go to a next page and ultra basic is like $450, econo $550 and econo flex $650 or higher.
It's just so damn annoying.
Should I just lose interest and try again in a week or price just "naturally" goes up by the minute?
Another thing, which day does Westjet flies directly to Edmonton? I cannot seem to find a flight Cancun-Yeg, even though it says flights are Thursday and Sunday? They can't be full or could they
