Wisconsin Wolves

Hello,

I am new to Wisconsin and it’s been fun exploring the north for ruffed grouse. Everyone I talk to here cautions me about the wolf depredations on hunting dogs. When I look at information online it seems the vast majority of wolf depredations occur with hounds and not pointing dogs. Obviously the idea of my dog encountering a wolf is terrifying but I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on how big of a concern this should actually be? Would this keep you out of the woods?

Thanks

Career advice

Hello I just graduated with my M.S. in chemical and biological science and B.S. in Biology. My graduate research focused on algal communities in beaver influenced systems and my coursework focused heavily on freshwater ecology. During undergrad I worked as an environmental scientist intern for a state agency in watershed protection and one summer as an intern for game fish and parks. I recently started working for an engineering/environmental firm as a seasonal restoration ecologist (my job is essentially a restoration tech) doing invasive species control through mowing and pesticides. I am feeling a bit frustrated as this job is not nearly as technical or scientific as my internships were. I think I want to get into wetland delineation as there doesn’t really seem to be any freshwater ecology jobs but I feel mildly overqualified for my current position. Is this job a good entry point into a more “scientific” position or should I struggle to find something else? What is the best entry level job for trying to get into wetland work? I am also currently doing a wetland delineation coarse from WTI.
