Custom Assertor class star Dreadnaught: Obsidian Dune
My capital ship idea is a custom Assertor-class Star Dreadnought called "Obsidian Dune", modified with better stacked shields, greater size (compared to the original Assertor-class) at 17.6 kilometers (which grants much more space for everything else), dozens of small hangars well protected along its sides and ventral areas, improved hull armour, 70 tractor beams, and all kinds of weapons: 876 Quad Heavy Turbolaser Batteries, 2000 triple heavy turbolaser batteries, 978 Dual Heavy Dorsal Turbolasers, 1000 Quad Light Turbolaser Batteries, 450 Quad Battleship Ion Cannon Batteries, 500 Dual Battleship Ventral Ion Cannons, 330 Medium Dorsal Ion Cannons, 780 Turreted Quad heavy Laser Cannons, 700 triple light laser cannons, 400 Concussion Missile Launchers and 350 proton torpeados tubes; the improved weaponry is granted by the elimination of the gravity well projectors, a decision which guaranteed much better performance, space for more weapons, hangars, and cargo space. The ship is also powered by 3 induviduals super-reactors, which grant much more efficent power distribution and individual sistems power. A class 1.5 hyperdrive and improved navicomputer sistems guarantees the ship to be very fast for its size and giving much better manuvrability. My modified capital ship has much more space for cargo than normal (up to 200 000 tons of cargo), troops (up to 58 000), starfighters (up to 1070 devided between interceptors, bombers and advanced fighters like the Defender), dozens of ground veicles and assault crafts, aboundant food rations for 2 years and 135 000 naval officers and personnel. It also, in it's most protected areas, has small internal factories and assempling complexes, both to repair and create new small ships, veicles and assault crafts, as well as ammunitions: this grats a partial independence from asking for replacements. The Obsidian Dune can be recognised by the black decorative patterns along it's hull, that resemble a Krayt Dragon. I know taking an already existing design is not original, but i wanted to share my way of rendering the Assertor a true multitask ship, capable of defending itself against both fleets and other ships in it's class range. I thought removing the interdictor tecnology for more firepower, cargo space, and small fabrics could improve its independency as a capital ship, as well as having several reactor like the Providence. Also, no Axial Superlaser, which takes a lot from the ship's energy supply and space.
