Outright Driver fraud

My recent experience with Uber involved outright fraud, and the company's lack of support is appalling. During a trip to the airport, I needed to turn around to retrieve a forgotten passport. The driver offered to update the route in my app and took my phone to do so.

I tipped the driver generously in cash at the end of the trip. I later discovered that while he had my phone, he fraudulently added a $20.00 tip to himself through the app. The overall bill was inflated to $112.00 for what is normally a $23.00 route.

When I reported this theft to Uber, they outright refused to refund the stolen $20.00. I am having to dispute the fraudulent charge through American Express. Uber is going downhill fast—do not trust their drivers with your device, and do not expect their customer service to protect you from theft.
