Can the flair kettle actually steam preheat the brew chamber and basket?
Hi everyone! I’ve had my flair pro 2 for about a year now and have been preheating the brew chamber and basket on a super basic kettle. I do this by putting the little flair grate on top of the kettle, putting the basket and brew chamber on top of that, and setting the kettle to boil with an open lid. The sensor to turn off that kettle is in the lid, so when i set it up like this it just keeps boiling and producing steam until i turn it off. This produces great shots and also means I’m not reaching into a pot of boiling water to fish out the metal pieces.
This week I finally upgraded to the flair kettle and rubber preheating funnel, but since the kettle turns off immediately when it boils it doesn’t produce enough steam to heat the brew chamber all the way through (let alone the basket and brew chamber). I’ve tried setting it to “warm” at 100 C, but that still doesn’t do it—what i really need is a continuous roiling boil for a few minutes.
Everything i can find online says to just stack the basket and brew chamber on the rubber funnel, but had anyone actually gotten this to work? what am i missing??!??
