Looking for a new washer

We bought a Maytag 'Pet Pro' washer a year ago in August and it has been.. Less than stellar.

I mean, I guess it's fine - It washes, it does the things. The 'pet pro' setting doesn't really seem to do anything different. The washer has this little filter thing inside the basin that doesn't do any more or less regardless of what setting it's on.

We foster dogs, so we put a LOT of dog laundry through our washer. Prior to this Maytag we had a kenmore that we used and abused for probably ~15 years. All that is to say, we're putting a lot of dirty, dog-hairy, often times pee'd on or poo'd on laundry through our washer. It practically lives on the 'sanitize' setting.

The maytag, we need to clean it's drain filter out every month or so or it straight up won't drain and will throw errors, while the older kenmore would keep trucking. This isn't a big deal in and of itself.. I'd be fine with clearing out the filter every month, or even twice a month, but the filter access requires removal of the washers front panel (I've found you can undo the four screws at the bottom, prop it open with a screwdriver handle and reach up under and into it to get to the drain plug and filter). Having to do all that monthly is a pain in. The kenmore had an easy access panel on the front. We didn't even think to look for that when we got the maytag - We know better now.

So, all that said.. What would people recommend?

Looking for a front load, something able to handle loads of filthy laundry and keep trucking. Smart is cool too - I like getting notifications on my phone when it's done or if it has an error and whatnot.

Just figured out what the weird tray on the upper rack is for on my Bosch dishwasher

Put your sponges in there when you run sanitize option, they come out like brand new!

Whirlpool washer water level low

I do a normal load, regular wash cycle, and I set the water level to high because I have a medium/medium-high load in and it always starts agitating before the clothes are fully submerged. I don’t see how this could be the “high” setting when the drum is barely 20% filled with water. Could it be a bad water level sensor?

LG Washer - worth having a technician take a look?

Our LG top load washer stopped working properly. The drum stops spinning during the cycle and continues to make a humming noise. Per the LG agent I chatted with, it seems like is a motor issue which is covered by the 10 year warranty, but we have to pay for a technician to diagnose the issue so the parts can be ordered.

How much does it cost typically to have a washer looked at for diagnostic purposes? I don’t want to pay someone to look at it and it turn out to be a different issue which will then not be covered by warranty. I would rather put money into a new washer…

Food processor blade

This is the bane of my existence. It takes 200 tries before this thing drops in. There has to be a trick that I can’t figure out. 3 college degrees and I’m stumped by an appliance. Lol

Whirlpool washing machine squeaks every 2-3 seconds

I tilted the washer back and took off splutch assembly, all gears looked fine and teeth looked good. I reset the washing machine and still making the same noise when agitating. And tips/help/videos would be appreciated!

Water appearing at base of refrigerator from unknown source.

I have a older side-by-side KitchenAid refrigerator freezer. The door gasket on my freezer cracked at the bottom. Periodically, a large volume of water would appear under the freezer door. The gasket is no longer available from the factory and I cannot seem to find a replacement. I called several appliance houses and they could not help me either. I decided to flip the gasket upside down and reinstall it with the gap at the top. I used some small sections of duct tape to bridge the gap. I know it sounds Bush league but it seemed to work. I do get some small icicles now at the top of the freezer but other than that, it seems to work well. unfortunately once a week, I will still get a big dump of water on the floor. I know this because we are now keep a small towel at the edge of that door and I check it every day. No slow leak just a big dump. I cannot figure out where it is coming from. Could it be from an auto defrost cycle? I am at a loss as to what to do. The unit works fine other than this water problem. Does anyone have any suggestions?

What is this thing?

We had this wall oven installed in a new home ~4 years ago, and this little shim has always kind of been sticking out of the bottom of it. If I push up on the oven there’s enough flex that I can kind of push it back in, but as we open and close the oven it inevitably walks back out again.

What is this thing? Can I either remove it or any idea how to keep it firmly installed?

Samsung refusing to honor their free Tide offer

Bought a top-load washer from Samsung.com last month.

The product page clearly advertised a "FREE TIDE OFFER" — a free 4-month supply of Tide detergent. The offer terms right on the page said it was "redeemable through 7/30/2026" and that redemption instructions would be "sent via email following product purchase confirmation."
The email never came. So I contacted support to ask about it.

Their answer: the promotion "can only be applied once the return window expires" and the rep was "bound by company policy." They put that in writing.

Here's the problem — that condition is nowhere in the actual offer. Not on the product page, not in the footnote/fine print, not in the Terms of Sale, not in the return policy. Every published term ties redemption to a fixed date (7/30) and says it starts after purchase confirmation. There is no "wait until the return window closes" language anywhere.
So they advertised one set of terms, then invented a different rule after I paid. When I pushed back I got shuffled around — "escalated to a team,” and transfers that went nowhere.

Has anyone else run into this with a Samsung promo? Did you ever actually get the Tide coupon? Trying to figure out if this "return window" line is a real policy or just a way to stall until the offer expires.

Front Loader Washing Machine Vibration in Spinning Cycle

2015 Whirlpool front loader washer (dryer stacked on top) on the second floor of the house. The second floor vibrate excessively and even the light fixture on the ceiling of first level vibrate at the end of the spinning cycle. I rocked the machine body and don't look it is unlevel. I didn't check shock absorbers.

Based on the oscillating inner ring and the sound of metal pieces under the inner ring while in rotation, does it look like a bearing or spider arm issue?

Best washer brand for easy serviceability/won't have to replace large parts.

Hey all. I've had my fair share of time purchasing mid range appliances, but I'm started to get annoyed because my washer keeps giving me small problems like sensors and stuff. In your repair history, what brand is easiest to work on, has great build quality, on and is guaranteed to last the longest?

Portable washer adapters

I’ve been looking for adapters to make my portable washer fit the bathroom faucet and I’m beyond lost. I’ve tried to explain in the diagram what I’ve bought that has potential so far - any ideas how to get this all connected? Thanks!

Dryer stopping early/not drying at all

Hello! I recently moved into a new apartment and the dryer they provided stops early when we I or my roommate used the timed dry setting and when using any other setting, our clothes are still damp. I’m not entirely sure how to even troubleshoot this issue, the only thing I can think of is that it ooks like there’s a part of the lint trap missing, but I can’t confirm that as when we I try to search up this dryer I get a sea of different hot point models that look similar but not quite the same.

Found in my guest bed after the guest left

The packet is made of a soft fabric with the consistency of a paper towel. It was entirely sealed until I cut it in half. Is this some kind of narcotic or could it be one of those moisture absorbing packets?

kitchen gadgets that's worth buying and not waste of space?

i am trying to downsize my apartment kitchen because my drawers are literally overflowing with random tools i bought after watching late night food videos. most of it is just junk that does one hyper specific thing like a garlic peeler tube or an avocado slicer that takes longer to wash than it does to just use a regular knife. i am completely over the clutter and want to strip everything down to just the absolute essentials.

the only random thing i bought that i actually use every single time i cook is a small handheld milk frother, not even for coffee but for mixing up sauces and dressings really fast without pulling out a giant blender. it made me realize how nice it is to have small, cheap tools that actually make a difference instead of giant appliances that just sit on the counter gathering dust.

PLEASE HELP ‼️

Our fridge has been making this noise on and off for the last two to three days. Last night it started going continuously and will not stop. I think it is coming from the freezer. Our leasing office is closed and we don’t have an emergency maintenance number.

What is it? Is it a cause for concern? And can I fix it myself?

Is it normal to feel a tiny electric current coming from stove or tap?

I'm gonna guess the answer is no but hear me out. Read the whole post before responding.

I have a pretty basic electric stove. I also have a big rash on my left hand where the skin is cracked and red with tiny bumps (allergies).

When the stove is turned on I can feel a TINY electrical current like nettle stings but ONLY on the damaged skin of my hand, not on my healthy skin.

I also have a self heating electric tap in the kitchen, where I can feel the current in the metal tap head in the soft skin on my inside forearm as well.

I'm guessing they're both just not strong enough to trip the earth. Like I say I can only feel it on delicate skin. I've electrocuted myself a few times before (I live in South Africa lol) nd it feels nowhere near as strong as that but it's still a bit painful.

Why does my dishwasher make this noise?

It’s an LG, about 4 years old, it makes this noise towards the end of the cycle, but it doesn’t last long either
