Anyone got any idea what is wrong with our washing machine, got it cheap secondhand on Facebook marketplace. Only does this last half hour during the spin.

Back of LG Fridge damaged with moving in

Lowe’s helped move in fridge
They offered replacing fridge vs 10% additional discount

If the the fridge works fine and it’s just cosmetic damage then I would just take the discount right?

Keep Or Replace Speed Queen W/D?

Hi everyone. I am converting an old building into a cafe. We want to have laundry in the basement, to wash our towels etc.

I have Speed Queen coin-op top loader washer and dryer, that came with the building. I don’t know their age, they were working when we bought. I gather the commercial Speed Queens are well regarded.

Unfortunately their previous location is now occupied by the grease interceptor, so whereever I put them, I’ll need to install a vent which may be inconvenient (basement).

I saw a used Fisher & Playkel washer/dryer set for $500. WH2424P1 and DE4024P1, stackable, front loading, santize and steam features, and the dryer is ventless. I see these sell for about $1,000 each so $500 seems like a good deal.

I think I can sell the Speed Queens for more than the used F & P will cost.

What do you think? Should I keep the Speed Queens

New Slide In Electric Range Suggestions?

We have a 9 year old Whirlpool we paid $1700 back then & now one of the burners is on hot the highest no matter what setting you put the knob. Our repair guy said that he thinks it's from spill overs and whatever else cleaning that got the knob wet. I didn't realize that or would've switched to the old school ones with the knobs up top in the back, but we have backsplash that we already configured with the slide in.

Every one I have looked at has all kinds of problematic reviews. LG, KitchenAid. Saw posts here about the Samsung catching fire, all of these seem to have problematic knobs that almost turn the oven on themselves unless you keep the oven on lock. 😔

Also, I am not doing induction. I'm not buying all new cookware and etc. Is an LG slidein that bad? It's basically spending $1500-$2000 with the warranty for an oven that I don't see any brand that is the clear winner. Thank you for your help.

Do I Fix it or buy a new one. If I buy new which brand ? Fridge before this lasted 19 years.

Tired of wasting money.

Is a range hood worth adding?

We just moved into a new house, but we don't see any exhaust fan or range hood. The kitchen is open to the living room, so now er are debating whether we really need to install one.

I'm trying to understand how necessary it is. Imo, a range hood is a big fan that pullls smoke away and vent it out, so would opening a window plus using a fan do almost the same thing? Or maybe putting an air purifier in the kitchen? Back when I lived alone in apartments, most places either didn't have a hood or the hood barely did anything, so it's hard for me to justify spending a lot of money on one. I always thought the true must-have appliances were things like a dishwasher, fridge, and washer. If one of those needed replacing, I wouldn’t hesitate. My wife thinks we absolutely need one before cooking regularly. She's already looking at wall mounted hoods and she found one that's supposed to capture smoke from multiple angles with high-speed backward airflow. And it uses centrifugal force to separate grease. I honestly don’t know much about newer range hood tech, does that actually work? Did you install a range hood? Was it worth it?

Should Kitchen Appliances Match?

I’ve lived in my house for over 20 years. During that time various appliances fail and I just replace with whatever has a good recommendation on CR, matching finish (Stainless) and on sale. So right now they are a hodgepodge of different brands.

Now my fridge (Samsung-defroster shot), stove (Frigidaire - convection shot), and dishwasher (Maytag - trays corroded, not cleaning as well) need replacing.

Should I match all replacements with the same brand? Is there a downside if they don’t match?

Humbly request expert opinions: KitchenAid or LG Refrigerator

I come before you kind and gentle people of Reddit seeking your advice and opinions. My wife and I have decided that any refrigerator we purchase must be French door, have through-the-door ice and water, have handles, have as few smart features as possible (or be able to disable and/or not use them) and have a maximum depth without the handles of 33.999" but not be a traditional counter depth as they are just too small. The only two that I've found that meet these requirements are:

- KitchenAid KRFF577KPS - 33.93" depth w/o handle; single evaporator, huge ice bin (good and bad); 5-year parts and labor warranty on sealed system; made in USA

- LG LRFXC2606S - 29.13" depth w/o handle; it's a counter depth max but still 2.3 cu ft smaller in the fridge compartment; single evaporator, smart inverter compressor, 5-year parts and labor warranty on sealed system, made in Mexico or Korea, or maybe USA

The LG would fit much nicer, but the KitchenAid has a larger fridge and has a better brand reputation.

Anyone care to nudge me in the right direction?

Speed Queen TC5 arrived

New old style Speed Queen TC5 arrived and we got 2 loads done as soon as I got it connected.

Biggest disappointment was the cheap short drain hose. I have an existing heavy wall 6' long rubber hose that was on the previous washer but no easy way to swap it out since the new machines hose is terminated inside the TC5 cabinet. Cabinet is three sided so not just open up the back to get at it. I may just splice onto it but I doubt hose will last half as long as the machine. I sure wish they gave you a fitting on the outside back of the washer.

It was a wonderful sight to be able to open the lid and see laundry submerged in wash water!

I never could get my head wrapped around the idea that laundry can wash clean by spraying squirts of water on rotating damp clothes as most newer HE machines do..

First load was dirty work clothes. Ran it on heavy duty and heavy soil modes. Waste water came out far dirtier than our previous two HE washers. That tells you much.

Second load we used Normal eco cycle which also cleaned better than our HE machines.

My wife misses delay start and would like a wifi connection to alert end of cycle, otherwise functions are fine. The thing works, that's what matters. 2 expensive HE machines in about 14 years, both not repairable, so I am thrilled to go back to reliable old school technology.

I may hack into it to get those missed features working. Cycle is so fast I doubt end of cycle alert is that important. We'll see as we use it.

GE dryer

I took dryer apart to clean lint out because lint filter is messed up and I 2weeks later dryer started squeaking. The squeaking got louder and louder and now it’s just grinding and shaking very loudly, I can hear it across my house like there’s an earthquake… the dryer has still been drying my clothes since I don’t have money until the 1st to repair or replace it. But it’s gotten bad, need advice on if the repair is worth it or if I should just get a used dryer off marketplace.

Smeg kitchen appliances

For years I have been dreaming about a Smeg Victoria kitchen (mainly the oven and induction cooktop in all beige) just because of the aesthetics of it. Now that I have the money to renovate my kitchen, I am thinking about it and wanted to ask if any of you have experience with them.

Cordless Vacuum Recommendations

My wife is looking to add a quality cordless vacuum to the arsenal and as a good husband I want to help her out. So I’m turning to Reddit 😂 cause I don’t know vacuums.

She’s done some research and has narrowed it down to Dyson, Shark, or Bissell. Looking for something with good battery life, strong suction, be good on carpeted floors, and be functional. Hoping to stay at or below $400.

Please let me know if you have a favorite brand or specific model that blew you away or you can’t live without. TYIA!!

What is this wheel called? It’s the LG top loading washing machine.

So we moved to new home and appliance came with it. We did a tub clean wash and saw a lot of black stuff coming out and we saw some video and change the pulsator because we couldn’t clean it 100%. But even after changing the pulsator there was a little brown stuff coming out in every wash so we took out the drum and saw there rust on the wheel. I can’t clean it properly without taking it off so anyone know how to take this wheel out or what is this part called so I can look online. Thank you!

Dishwasher part

I opened my dishwasher and these 2 parts were sitting at the bottom. I have a Fridgeaire model #FFCD2418US3A

Any clue where it fell from? I’ve looked through websites that sell replacement parts but can’t find anything that matches either. Thank you all in advance!

Is this a normal sound for a brand new GE washer?

This is after pausing the cycle and it slowing down. I feel like the drum should not be banging around like that?? The drum is a little under half full with like materials and balanced.

New GE washing machine loud and walking during spin cycle and clothes are staying a bit wet. Is the drain hose being too high possibly part of the issue?
