Why are American burgers so much better than I expected?

As a visitor, I knew burgers were a big American thing, but I honestly did not expect them to be that good.

I’m not even talking only about fancy restaurants. Even casual burger places, diners, roadside spots, and some fast food burgers felt better than what I usually get back home. The beef, the bun, the cheese, the sauces, the fries, and the whole simple meal just worked.

Is there something different about how Americans make burgers, or does it just taste better because it fits the culture so well?

Why are Americans so comfortable talking to strangers?

As a non-American, one of the most surprising things about visiting the U.S. was how casually people talk to strangers.

Cashiers ask how your day is going, someone in an elevator makes a joke, people compliment your shirt, a person in line starts a random conversation, and neighbors you barely know might wave or say hello.

At first I thought people were being unusually friendly to me as a visitor, but then I noticed Americans do this with each other too.

Is this just normal politeness, or do Americans genuinely enjoy small talk with strangers?

And do you notice how different this feels when you travel outside the U.S.?
