Why you should read Of Mountains and Rivers by Priest
Okay, so while I've read that novel last year. I believe I still remember enough to recommend it to you guys.
Of Mountians and Rivers is lwky imo one of priest's best novels out there. It's also a very short read with just 100 chapters, and it's worth every reread.
Synopsis:
"A tale of an adventure between two people secretly in love with each other.
The story follows Chu Huan, a former secret service agent who was pursuing the ringleader of a drug trafficking group, “Big Ghost”, when he accidentally fell off a cliff. A series of bizarre adventures ensue."
And you know what? As with every novel my priest, the Synopsis doesnt do justice to the story. The story advances way past this as implied with "series of bizarre adventures"
The word building is delightful, although there is some info dumps at times.
The story follows with the character Chu Han going on a trip (I forgot where) and he's in a bus, the bus driver asks everyone if they wish to continue their journey forward following up with some scary stories about the place ahead. This causes everyone to get off the bus including a teacher who came to teach Nan Shan's people chinese. Nan Shan is Ml (excuse me if I got that wrong😭) he's so cute and lovable. Also very handsome that Chu Han fell in love w him at first sight. Chu Han arrives at a place close to Nan Shan's (I wont twll u how thats a spoiler) and agrees to go back and teach Nan Shan's people.
Chu Han is an assassin and is very humorous, doesnt take himself seriously, very cunning, handsome and loveable! The side characters are also well written! The story touches on themes of loneliness as well. I'll give this story a 10/10.
One thing I was afraid of was the story ending the same way it did in Pure White Devil (another novel by priest, highly recommend) but in glad it didn't! It has a very happy ending.
I suck at writing reviews and I can't do justice to this book, but if my review as interested you then you may also check out the reviews on NU. Have a great day! Tell me if you will read it!
