God forbid a girl likes it when you're eager

I've been thinking about this a lot lately. People always say, "Relationships take work," but they also say, "Know your worth and don't settle."
At what point do you decide you've genuinely done everything you can, and at what point are you just holding on because you're scared of starting over?
I'm not talking about situations involving abuse or safety, those are different. I mean relationships where both people care about each other, but things just haven't felt right for a while.
For those who've been through it, what made you realize it was time to keep trying... or time to walk away?
Please, I need your advice because this is what I've been battling in my mind for weeks now in my relationship.
