Paying off mortgage before retirement

Planning to see a financial advisor soon to discuss retirement around 55 ...52M currently, married..

4.8m nw including the 350k mortgage as the biggest liability at 2.1%..9.more yrs left...

Saw a comment earlier that said to pay off your mortgage prior to retirement to lower your MAGI but does it make sense since our IR is 2.1%?

TIA

Joining a non profit

I am being pursued by a non profit to join them...I have to take 20 to 25% paycut...

Has anyone worked for a Non profit lately? Given all the funding cuts by DOGE, don't know if it makes sense...My current job is not stable also due to constant layoffs and I could be out anytime but I want to leave on my own terms...so thinking if I should jump ship now as the market is brutal with daily layoffs or keep looking...

Suggestions?

My company wants me to quit

Unfortunately for them I perform well. And I make decent money. But their intent is to fire me and hire someone with 40% less salary and I am pretty sure they will get 500 resumes in this market...even gave me poor rating this time and I escalated the heck out of it all the way to SVP and my manager had no choice but to change it to meets expectations and increase my bonus by 12k... I deserved better but screw it...

Fuck them now...I am not quitting easily and I have also started to contribute as little as possible with the intention of finding a job...I tell them when I go and not my fucking mgmt...

Improving SAT scores - need guidance

How do you improve SAT score of 1300? 670 Math 530 English - 1st attempt? My son entering 11th grade in Fall has tutored with someone online (was highly recommended) but apparently it didn't help much. Does he have potential to get over 1500 - yes but his English skills in vocab, comprehension are weak. He is fantastic in Math, so he will eventually get better. And I also feel throwing another tutor at him is going to be a waste of money but I am not sure what else to try. And He works better with guidance than self study. Also he attempted ACT and he bombed in his English section (Math was 30). So for now he wants to stick with SAT. Is there anyone who went from low scores to say 1500s with some techniques/ I guess another tutor that worked for them? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Not everyone wants to move to USA

However 9/10 working and prospective students want to move out of India. It's the sad truth. For anyone who moves back or doesn't have anything good to say about US...they have been denied or couldn't make it here..things are lot harder in India for the amount of work you put it...people who have not worked in India do not understand the meaning of grind. And in my 30 yrs here in US, I have come across perhaps couple who genuinely wanted to move back.

For people going through immigration woes in USA keep trying...Everyone goes through the same crap although it's harder now...gl

See so many posts about people penny pinching; hiding their assets from their loved ones, living like a homeless. What is the point of this living if you cannot splurge from time to time or go on a nice vacation once a year or drive a nice car. Would you rather penny pinch and live miserably and FIRE at 45 or enjoy your money and FIRE at 55 - I chose the latter. Again I am not saying blow off your money but you need to treat yourself / family every now and then and build memories. Work hard and party sometimes (not hard) but it's important to strike a balance. Thank God I was not familiar with FIRE term until about a few months ago (I am over 50) but for some of you in 20s and 30s you seem to be obsessed with it.
