Adding a wood stove to my house. House is currently roughly 1000 sq ft with a basement that’s the same size, so 2000 sq ft total with around 12-1500 sq ft of living space.

The stove will be in the basement, with a return air vent down there on my air handler to pull warm air from the basement into the duct work.

Curious what size stove I need and some good brands. I am leaning towards a cabinet stove, but definitely not against a normal glass door stove.

I live in the south, so winters are generally mild with average highs in the 30s.. though we do have some pretty nasty cold snaps. I plan to use the stove daily but primarily as a back up option.
