Getting to Launch Day (editing)
I’m hoping to launch my channel soon with 3 initial videos. I’m realizing now that I’m up to the editing phase that I may have been overly ambitious. It’s a series of tips videos with lots of b-roll. Professionally, I’ve done rough cuts before, but nothing else. I’m trying to learn about the basic features of Premiere Pro & it’s a lot. I’ve started an Essentials course and am about 60% finished, but it’s starting to feel discouraging how much I still have to learn to get to the basic level. I had to learn some stuff for ideation, scripting, thumbnail creation, filming, lighting, etc., but none of those felt this difficult and unfamiliar.
How have others pushed through that learning curve to get enough skills to edit their videos? I’m so excited to start my channel! I think I’ll enjoy the editing process much more once I actually know how to do more things, but it’s a real struggle in the meantime — and of course I have a day job.
