Family of six thinking about a Ford Transit

Husband and I have been weighing the pros and cos of the transit van, we have a Honda Odyssey currently and we’ll be a family of six here soon. While fitting a car seat in the odyssey isn’t the issue, it’s the amount of space we no longer have for road trips. We’re looking at a 15 seater and just taking out two rows in the back for storage and extra space.

How’s city driving in these things? Med roof or low roof? I’d like the extra head room but no drive throughs, drive in car washes and parking garages. The parking garage issue is the biggest thing for me although not a deal breaker. I’ll miss the Honda for the movie player up top, and that’s why I’d prefer to get the med roof so we’re able to mod the inside a little more like put a little tv in there.

Our budget is $60,000, we’re down to modding a few things later but right off the bat we don’t want to go to high. What things have you put in yours to make it more comfortable for your family?

Those that use their Transits as their daily, can you give me some pros and cons or just your daily experiences with driving the transit? :)

Thank you!

Mom who is very disabled (stroke, can’t do tasks on her own, heart conditions, diabetic..) is applying for Medicaid here in WA.

It’s asking for all household members and income of household members even if we’re not applying for coverage. My mother’s is very straight forward and has not a single cent to her name or anything she owns except for social security every month that she’s been living on, that’s it. She moved in with us temporarily last month while we get her on Medicaid and into an assisted living home or signed up for in home care. She pays for her things mostly and buys the things she needs/wants.

My husband is the bread winner and the one working in our household, making over 200k before taxes. His income won’t matter though, correct? That won’t affect her approval?

Edit to add: looks like his income is only counted if she claims him on a tax return or something? Which obviously isn’t the case so I think we’re good? She doesn’t even file taxes she hasn’t worked in ages.

Thank you in advance!
