I've been asked to help coach a new 5v5 team 11 Y/O. Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
As the title says, however there are a few important details. There's a league starting up here, in a country outside of the US. Any player on the team would have a casual interest in football, no one has played the sport before or has really any meaningful experience throwing a football. All the players would have come from other sports, and individual set plays would be completely new to them too.
It looks like the rules are all pretty standard, 5v5, Blitzer 7 yards away with a 7 second pass clock. QB can't run past the LOS etc.
I'm well aware the level will be beginner, so I'm looking for any sequence/skills you would prioritise so that the kids have the best chance of success and scoring.
Is it worth trying to upskill one player to be able to throw consistently and accurately throw. Are there other ways from laterals and chest passes that you'd recommend to get these kids moving the ball up the field?
I'd appreciate and help I can get, and thanks in advance!
