Welcome! We love that the community gathers here each month to countdown to deposit day! Here you’ll find basic information and answers to frequently asked questions about Government Benefits Timing at Chime. We encourage you to use this space to chat with other members about deposits or pose any questions you may have to the community. 

If you don’t see your deposit on the expected date based on the schedule, that means we haven’t received it, and our Member Services team won’t have any further information about when it will become available. We recommend allowing three additional business days before contacting the Social Security Administration.

All deposits are posted from Monday to Friday, except for bank holidays. If your deposit shows up on a bank holiday, it'll post the following business day.

Investing is expanding so more Chime members can invest right inside the app, alongside the money you already spend and save. Start investing with as little as $1.00.

There are two ways to do it, depending on how hands-on you want to be:

• Self-directed Investing (the hands-on route) — This is the "I’m in control" option. Browse stocks and ETFs, decide what to buy and when to sell, and manage it all yourself in the app. No commission fees.
• Automated Investing (the hands-off route) — Think of this as the "set it and let it ride" option. You share your goals and how much risk you're comfortable with, and you’ll be recommended a Managed Portfolio (Conservative, Balanced, or Bold), expertly-built and managed for you by our partner, Atomic Invest, an SEC-registered investment adviser. Good fit if you'd rather not pick individual investments yourself.

Both options are great - it really comes down to how involved you want to be. Some folks like the simplicity of automated; others enjoy researching and picking their own investments. Plenty of people even do a mix. If you're not sure where you land, the resources below break down the differences without the jargon.

A note on fees: When you pick your own stocks or ETFs there are no commission fees; other fees and expenses may apply. For Managed Portfolios, annual management fees vary by Chime membership status — 0.25% for Chime, 0.10% for Chime Plus, and 0% for Chime Prime.
