Meet my new pink boy

This is Étienne! I have been online looking for a pink betta for a while. Between the super expensive fish from crummy sellers, and the fish that sell out the literal second they’re posted (looking at you Tucky) I’ve been pretty disappointed in my options.

I hesitated to get another Halfmoon because they struggle so much to swim with the amount of fin they have. I previously had a giant purple dumbo plakat that somehow managed to jump out of the tank (even with a lid and spacer clips), and ended up passing away, so for this particular shallow tank I didn’t really want a another plakat. (I have my other plakat in a deeper tank.) I figured I’d try my local shops again before deciding on an online purchase, and I found this gorgeous pink Veiltail at PetSmart for $3.99!

Just appreciating my weird old little (giant) betta Lorcan. He’s almost four years old and likes to flop his excessive finnage about and watch his 🦐 friends.

I’d love to see your weird bettas! Please post the fun, weird, goofy, funny, pretty, cute, happy little friends! I could use some nice pictures, feeling a very sad and discouraged the last couple days. My community tank had a sudden bout of columnaris that wiped out around 16 fish in the last 48 hours despite trying everything I could to save them.

I really like the longer wider tanks rather than the tall deep tanks. I have plenty of time to plan and save up for what I want, and prefer to buy new.

I do like the Landen 120P rimless that is around 78 gallons, but it is around $1,049 and spending that amount on just the tank makes my tummy hurt. I can save up for it but if there are also other comparable options that don’t cost that much I’d prefer them.

I have two Imaginarium 6.8 g shallow rimless (pictured) tanks that I love, but can’t find anything close to a 75 gallon rimless in that line.

I’m looking for something around 48-50 inches long, up to around 24inches wide(front to back) and height isn’t super important, but the more shallow/rectangular shapes are more aesthetically pleasing and easier to fiddle with as I don’t have to reach in so far. I really want a rimless. This will be freshwater/tropical. A glass top is a bonus but not required. The plan I have for this, it will have Aquasoil & sand with live plants, wood, stone, 2 canister filters, heated, and have Electric Blue Acara at least. Haven’t decided the full stocking list but leaning towards South American Ciclids. So maybe some severum or Bolivian Rams too. Suggestions welcome for stock recommendations as well.
