HIV Rash / Something Else?
Hi all. looking for opinions on whether this rash looks at all like an acute HIV rash or more like something else such as folliculitis/heat rash.
Exposure was condomless vaginal sex on 16 July (I’m male - ONS met her out at a club). I had a venous laboratory 4th-gen HIV Ag/Ab test at day 28 which was negative.
The day after the test I developed a sore throat, and two days after that I noticed the attached rash mainly across my upper chest/shoulders. No high fever. A lot of the spots initially looked slightly pimple/follicle-like and some had tiny white heads. I’ve also been running/sweating a lot during the recent heat. Today is day 32 since exposure.
I know symptoms can’t diagnose HIV and I’m planning the appropriate follow-up testing — I’m mainly curious whether anyone familiar with acute HIV rashes thinks the appearance/distribution in the attached photos resembles one, or whether it looks much more like folliculitis/heat/sweat irritation.
