(The Boys) Did the finale live up to the hype?

It was mixed bag for me. And as I get deeper into the actual review you'll see why.

So, GEN V, it's clear they should have never been apart of this season. They were literally nothing characters. And this will probably go down as one of the worst cross-overs between shows I have ever seen in my life.

Annie asks them to get the people they saved from the last episode to safety. And they do. And it's the last time we ever see them. Because their show is not coming back for a thrid season.

And yes, Soilder Boy did not make an appearance this episode. And won't be seen again until his spinoff: Vought Rising. He should've died this season. If he wasn't gonna die, then he should've never came out of that chamber he was in. This was a promotional opportunity for the spin-off/prequel. And guess what? Millions of people fell for it because this show is on prime and they know people will click on it regardless of storytelling. So we got played and it serves us right.

Sage went to Harry Potter World in Orlando after being hit with Kimko's blast trying to get her angry to see if it worked. And Sage effectively got her ending. Which OK. That's all I have say about that.

Deep stayed true to his character being a total idiot, I did think at one point during the starlight/deep fight that they were gonna have him FILP, but once he got put in the water it was wraps, and again, I wanted it to be a slow painful death, but he died almost immediately once his ass got put in the water.

Now the homelander stuff, I heard all week, this episode was gonna be the episode homelander truly didn't give a fuck and go on a rampage, not only did he not do shit but put some billionaire in deep space, he sat in chair delivering a speech until the boys interrupted. Not what I expected but this is only an hour finale. So pickers can't be choosers I guess. Unless you're the Showrunner with a big budget who clearly had choice but choose the weaker options available to him.

So the boys proceed to fight Homelander. They start losing, Kimko cannot hit Homelander with the blast because she isn't emotional enough.

They are about to lose, when Ryan comes in to help. Who a few scenes beforehand disowned his father.

Once Ryan was in the game, and Kimko had a vision of Frenchie, shit was wraps for old pal in the American cape as Homelander finally got blasted.

And this was probably my favorite scene, Homelander depowered. Acting like a winy high schooler who peaked before the 11th grade. And I wanted so bad for him to live, but knew butcher was gonna kill him. And had every right. At that point I just wanted it to be slow. Painful death. That did not happen. Butcher split John's head open and that was the end of homelander.

And Oh, Father was killed by MM. No notes on that.

Ashley, had a piss poor ending, as she thought she remain president after claiming innocence, but was ultimately removed from office and voted out. And we got any type of epilogue for her. At all. She should've gotten some sort of happy ending. Like taking A-train words to heart. But nope. Just disappears.

So after Homelander death, THE boys celebrate, I'm thinking OK, Butcher can finally at least try to fulfill BECCA'S promise and watch over Ryan. Ryan rejects him. Just like the Writers Should've rejected Ryan being a thing at all in this series. Then Terror dies of old age. Which is enough for Butcher to just to kill all supes again and die trying.

Hugie finds out, goes and stops him at Vought.

Okay, I actually like all the scenes with Hugie and Butcher, they had one of the better relationships thoughout the entire show, i feel this would've worked better had they built up better episodes leading to this emotional moment where Hugie shoots Butcher. However, it is still emotional for some, because we've been rocking with these characters for years. And it did make me emotional watching Butcher pass.

After that KIMIKO goes to France, MM takes in Ryan and renews his vows with his wife, and Hugie opens up his shop with Starlight who pregnant with their baby, ROBIN. Which is good writing I can't lie.

So I think I got everything, and the end credits, genuinely fuck all those people on set who didn't speak up for terrible writing. If you don't have ideas or challenge people to be better, you will get terrible results every time. So genuinely fuck all of them in them photos in the end credits.

I'm giving this a 5.5 because it did tie up some things. But ultimately could've been way better and way more emotionally satisfying. Better Than Stanger things, in my opinion.

Why was the Doom Patrol Absent in calling all titans?

The brain was their villian. Would've made sense to have them there to complete Beast Boy's arc.

I'm done. I can't. I don't know what to say.

I just don't know anymore. And I'm not just saying this to complain or ragebait.

This show is genuinely a case study of a show that fell from grace.

Episode 6 season 5 did what it was supposed to in terms of plot.

But logic? Yeah, these characters should be dead.

The entire boys crew should be dead for how stupid they are.

It's sad because they could've done so much with this season. However, I still can't wait to see how it ends.

It's unpredictable. That's the only thing it has going for it.

Wheather that's interpretated in a good or bad way depends on the individual. I'd take it the majority leans one way.

The writers just had way too much time to think. That's the reason we're getting what we got in terms of bad writing.

The only thing I will give them credit for is taking the ship down their way and they can't blame the fandom for the show sinking like it has.

In Pavitr’s universe (Mumbai), Miles saves Inspector Singh, the police captain figure, and immediately the universe starts glitching and falling apart. That’s presented as proof that canon events MUST happen.

But then Gwen’s dad quit and nothing happens.

There are a few ways people try to explain this:

The “role” theory:

Gwen’s dad stepping down means he’s no longer in the role of police captain, so the canon event has no one to attach to. He didn’t survive as captain, he escaped the role entirely. Whereas Singh was still captain when Miles saved him.

The “Miguel is wrong” theory:

Miguel’s understanding of canon events is incomplete or biased. He’s been traumatized by his own universe collapsing and may be overcorrecting. The rules might be more flexible than he thinks.

It's probably just a genuine inconsistency in the writing. The Gwen moment is so emotionally powerful that the filmmakers prioritized the feeling over the logic being airtight.

The Mumbai scene and the Gwen scene kind of can’t both be fully true at the same time.

So I'm hoping somewhere along the way they address this.
