Technique I fucked with
Disclaimer, I used Claude to write it out for me as I'm a lazy prick. However the idea and creation was all me, I just used Claude to expand on it.
Cards — Full Summary
The Technique
A technique that operates entirely through a physical deck of 52 cards requiring no cursed energy as the cards themselves are the source of power. Any living being, human, sorcerer, curse or animal can be trapped inside a card by placing it directly on their forehead. Once trapped the being is permanently linked to that specific card for the rest of their life. The only way to sever that link and free the card slot is through the death of the trapped being.
The Boost System
When released the trapped being receives a boost in strength and is granted cursed energy if they had none naturally. The degree of boost correlates directly to the card's value and suit. Higher numbered cards and higher tier suits grant greater boosts. Face cards are elite level. The two Joker cards represent the absolute peak of possible boost, amplifying whoever is inside to incomprehensible levels. The longer a being remains trapped inside a card the greater their boost upon release, meaning long term prisoners become increasingly dangerous assets.
Control Mechanic
The user must physically hold the card to maintain control over the released being. If the card leaves the user's hand while the linked being is free, that being operates entirely on their own free will with no obligation to the user whatsoever.
The 52 Card Economy
Every card is a permanent lifetime resource. Once a card is used and the linked being dies that slot reopens. A reckless user burns through their deck carelessly and ends up with nothing. A strategic user treats every single card as irreplaceable because it genuinely is. A smart Cards user reserves high tier cards for worthy opponents and never wastes slots carelessly. The user can release any number of cards simultaneously, potentially deploying a full army at once.
Card Tier System
2 through 5 — weakest boost, expendable on low tier threats
6 through 10 — moderate boost, mid tier opponents
Jack, Queen, King — elite boost, serious threats only
Ace — near maximum boost, reserved for exceptional opponents
Jokers — absolute peak, two slots, the greatest mystery in any Cards user's deck
Special Interaction with Resurrect
If a Resurrect user summons a deceased person and a Cards user places a card on their forehead during that window, the resurrected being becomes permanently carded in a living state. They are no longer dead enough to be resummoned freely and must actually die again inside the card to sever the link. This creates beings that exist outside conventional life and death simultaneously.
The Domain
The domain manifests as a space where the user's full deck is laid out visibly before any opponent trapped inside. Cards that are already occupied face downward concealing their contents entirely. Empty cards face upward revealing their value. Upon domain activation any living being inside is instantly carded without requiring physical forehead placement, completely bypassing the most difficult aspect of the technique. The psychological weight of the domain is immense as opponents can see filled face down cards of unknown contents but have no way of knowing what or who occupies them. Realizing that face down Joker cards exist and could be deployed at any moment is an experience of pure existential dread.
