How to start working in a bridal shop with no experience? (UK based)
Hi everyone,
I’m currently working in healthcare, but I’d love to move into bridal retail. I don’t have experience in sales or bridal shops, so I was wondering if anyone has advice on how to get started in the UK and if it is a career that's worth it.
Since I’ve never needed a bridal dress myself, I don’t really know how things work behind the scenes in bridal shops. My experience with retail is only from normal clothing stores when shopping for myself.
What really made me think seriously about this was helping one of my best friends during her search for the perfect dress. I genuinely loved the experience of helping her, understanding what she wanted, putting myself in her shoes, and trying to find something that made her feel beautiful and comfortable. When she found it I felt soooo satisfied and happy.
Are there any requirements or restrictions regarding age, experience, appearance, etc.? And what do bridal shops usually look for when hiring beginners?
I’d also love to hear personal stories from people who started without experience and how your career developed over time.
