Hankook iON EVO AS SUV (20") Tires only last 10,000 miles on Tesla Model Y 2026?
Last week I had my first tire change on one of my 2026 Model Y RWD (purchased Sep. 2025).
The factory-installed Hankook iON EVO AS SUV 20" tires lasted me only 10,525 miles (supposedly rated for 50,000 miles), and all 4 were wearing evenly between 3/32" - 4/32" when replaced.
I paid the Tesla Service Center to align my wheels a couple weeks after the car was picked up (to get the best range, car was already driving fine to begin with), and rotated the tires once at around 6,000 miles. Car is set to Standard Regen + CHILL mode 100% of the time, and the usual driver uses FSD on "HURRY" 80% of the time. No one else drove the car, we didn't take any long road trips, and didn't haul any heavy loads in it (at most just 4 people and a couple bags). Driving is pretty evenly split 50% Highway, 50% Streets, with max speed sometimes hitting 80 mph.
Is this normal for the Hankook iON EVO AS SUV? Because if so, that is horrible mileage.
I usually think one bad experience is an outlier, but last week I had the factory-installed Hankook iON EVO AS SUV 20" tires rotated on my second 2026 Model Y RWD (purchased Oct. 2025) at around 7,800 miles, and the rears are at 4/32", and fronts are at 6/32". Same settings in my second vehicle (Standard + CHILL). The only difference is that I did *NOT* get an alignment from Tesla on this vehicle yet (drives fine and straight), and I only use FSD probably 15% of the time. Route traveled by both vehicles is roughly the same, so road conditions are pretty much the same since our routine brings us to the same destinations (aside from work) on alternating days. Driving style is pretty similar, but I may be more relaxed and less in a rush in traffic.
Does anyone have any 2026 Model Y tire recommendations that does NOT wear out so ridiculously fast?
I replaced the Hankooks with Goodyear ElectricDrive 2 since they had a higher tread rating (700 vs 600) and America's Tire had them in-stock. I didn't find many reviews on them though (compared to other EV tire models/brands).
