Is this a BPD thing? No matter how much you tell or show them you think they’re beautiful, sexy, hot, amazing, etc it has little to no effect -

but random people complimenting them or strangers online or literally anybody else seems to matter way more. maybe because it’s more thrilling or validating when people don’t know you so they don’t know all your dark sides. Perhaps because the person with BPD doesn’t want to get too close because someone seeing their dark sides and still loving them gives them the ick?
