Hawaii: Part ii and Truman Show ???
I may sound insane but I just rewatched the Truman Show today and I swear there’s similarities.
Firstly, the emphasis on the moon. Hawaii Part: ii of course has White Ball, a song about two people falling for eachother in front of the (or on the moon) and Truman falls in love (or atleast properly meets) this lady in front of the moon at night, just like the album cover.
Secondly, after meeting Sylvia, the cast member comes up with electroshock therapy to try and convince Truman that she’s crazy. Simon goes to electroshock therapy and becomes crazy.
Third, Truman sails. He knows how to work a boa, and presumably Simon does too.
Fourth, at the end of the Truman Show, Truman goes to find his love and find the real world. Simon presumably dies and goes to find Stella.
Fifth, Truman threatens to kill his wife, Simon may have killed Stella (I don’t even know at this point).
Theres definitely more, but I would need to rewatch it to name it all
