THE MIND ELECTRIC
While I continue working on the animation, I made this drawing of Simon and his "friendly" mind
Hawaii Party?
I recently lucked into this wonderful music, and I watched a YouTube video or two discussing the mystery behind it. One thing that surprised me is that, while the videos seemed largely well researched, they would touch on the strange name "Hawaii Part II" without mentioning what seems obvious to me:
Hawaii Part II might actually be Hawaii Partii (pronounced "party"). A play on the fact that the "ii" in "Hawaii" makes a "y" sound.
I didn't do a super thorough search to see if this has been discussed on this sub before, but a cursory search didn't turn up anything.
Surely this isn't a novel observation, right?
Just a shower thought I wanted to share.
Signed yours truly, The Whale
so if anyone remembers, I’m trying to make a stage version of Hawaii Part II. And I’m thinking about making the whale the narrator. Thoughts?
I listened to Hawaii: Part II
This is my opinion after listening to it for the first time, so things might change.
It's a mess. The first two tracks establish a clear direction, but after that, the album completely falls apart. "Introduction to the Snow" sounds fantastic, and if the rest of the album had maintained that style and atmosphere, it would easily be in my top 10 albums of all time.
Instead, the album constantly genre-hops and never commits to a clear identity. It doesn't seem to know what it wants to be. Is it an album about the end, the unknown, and existential dread, or is it just a generic rap album? It keeps bouncing between completely different ideas, and the lack of consistency hurts the experience. Normally, an album can benefit from variety, but here it just feels unfocused and directionless.
The album cover is absolutely fantastic. It perfectly captures the mysterious, dreamlike atmosphere that the first two tracks create, and it also fits songs like "The Mind Electric" and "Dream Sweet in Sea Major" beautifully. Looking at it, you'd expect the entire album to lean into that eerie, surreal aesthetic. Unfortunately, the music doesn't stay in that lane. Instead of building on the atmosphere the cover promises, the album keeps jumping between completely different genres and ideas, making it feel unfocused. The artwork sets expectations that the album simply doesn't live up to.
Overall, it works better as individual singles than as a complete album. There’s definitely something I’m not quite grasping, but I hope to figure out what it is that people enjoy so much about it.
ill give it another listen on my road trip but right now its a 6.8/10.
Anybody know about the Variation on a Cloud + Jump
This is a small rabbit hole, I know that Joe sang it at a Sonic Launch but im trying to find more stuff about it...
So I have a question What do you think is the smoothest transition in Hawaii part II
I was just thinking about this I would probably say in my opinion the cleanest transition is introduction to snow into Isle to thyself It's just an interesting question I don't think I've heard anyone talk about
Making a hawaii part ii/tally hall like song what do we think
I bet you didnt have this on your 2026 bingo thing whatever
Painted Joe
It looks a little off, I know. New to oil painting, excuse the messiness.
Is Miracle Musical Done with hawaii album or they will be new album in the coming years?
is there a different story if you played the album backwards?
Basically, if DSISM was the first song and ended in Introduction to the snow.
I was thinking about this on my 57th listen to the album, and I think there might be. Maybe I'm just going crazy. But I think if you flipped it backwards, there's a story there. I am just too lazy to get into it. My first idea was that Simon is lost at sea being called by sirens and he gets into Hawaii. Maybe Stella is already with him or something. Fuck this isn't making sense, it's like 2.am and but I think there's something okay? It's like a palindrome I'm sure of it because Joe Hawkey is a abstract genius like that
Im trying to make a stage musical out of the album and I have some questions
did simon kill stella? Who are all the characters? What happens in between White ball and murders? Are there more than one voice? Are there any creative suggestions for the show?
Do we remember?
Connected Rainbows?

She looks quite divine tonight
I'm thinking of making an animation of The Mind Electric, so I decided to make these designs of Stella and Simon (and Simon's mind)
And while I was at it, I decided to make a drawing. Honestly, the rendering isn't the best, but I did what I could.
