Shorter drivers — need help with brake pedal reach in BMW X3

Hey everyone, hoping someone here has dealt with this and can point me in the right direction.

I’ve been seriously considering buying a BMW X3 but I have one issue holding me back — I drive barefoot and struggle to reach the brake pedal comfortably with the ball of my foot. I either have to strain my toes to barely touch it or lift my leg awkwardly off the floor to get full contact.

The pedal isn’t too far forward — it feels like it’s just too high up relative to where my heel naturally rests on the floor.

What I’m thinking: Would using a heavy duty heel pad or thick all-weather carpet mats to raise the floor height by around 1 inch help with this? The idea is that raising my heel platform would naturally bring my foot to the right angle to reach the pedal comfortably.

Has anyone tried this or something similar? Are there specific products that worked for you? Any other solutions I might be missing?

Really don’t want to give up on this car over one ergonomic issue — would love to hear from anyone who’s figured this out!
