How I lost all Pokémon of my Journey
One day, over 20 years ago, a friend lent me his Red Version, and I had never been so captivated by a world as I was by this fantastic one. Everything felt so magical, but unfortunately, I couldn’t finish my journey through Kanto because my friend wanted his game back.
A few weeks later, my grandfather gave me Pokémon FireRed for my new Game Boy Advance, and I instantly lost myself in that world again. Kanto, with its secrets and schoolyard legends, was once again impressive and captivating to me. I spent many hours training my Pokémon and trying to complete the Pokédex with my friends.
After we’d finished the late game a while back, we discovered the Sapphire and Ruby editions and gradually explored Hoenn. As soon as I could, I transferred my Pokémon from my FireRed edition to my Sapphire edition. What an indescribable feeling that was! From then on, I made it my mission to train my favorite Pokémon to level 100.
Some time later, I saw a new Pokémon edition at a store in town: Pokémon Pearl. I bought a copy right away. Once again, I lost myself in Sinnoh for many hours and, in the late game, transferred all my Pokémon from FireRed and Sapphire to my Pearl edition.
A few years later, after I’d cleaned out my room, I gathered up a few things I wanted to sell to a secondhand dealer in town. Among them were a few Nintendo DS games. However, my Pokémon editions were sacred to me, and I didn’t want to sell them under any circumstances. The dealer offered me a deal: I’d get more money if I gave him the games, and he’d pay me only after he’d sold them himself. Of course, I accepted the offer.
Some time later, I wanted to take another look at my Pokémon Pearl Edition and battle with my Pokémon. I searched everywhere, but unfortunately couldn’t find my Pokémon Edition anywhere. Inside the case for the Pokémon Pearl Edition was just another game that I thought I had actually sold.
All of this happened over 15 years ago now. Probably even 17 or so. Today, I’ve come to believe that I accidentally gave my Pokémon Pearl Edition to the dealer. I’m still sad about it to this day, and sometimes I still hope that I’ll find the Pokémon Pearl cartridge somewhere.
By the way, the dealer never called me, and he closed his shop a few years ago.
TLDR:
Over 20 years ago, I fell in love with Pokémon after playing Red Version for the first time. Over the years, I transferred my favorite Pokémon from FireRed to Sapphire and eventually to Pearl, spending countless hours training them.
Years later, I accidentally sold my Pokémon Pearl cartridge with all my Pokémon on it to a secondhand dealer. I never got it back, and I’m still sad about losing it today.
