I'm done patronizing venues with stupid bag policies
I'm drawing the line here. Ya'll can enjoy concerts and sports games without me. I don't need to go through a metal detector to touch a tree. I don't have to empty my life in front of a minimally paid worker "just following policy" to read a book.
I pity children who have to grow up being treated they live in prison, and I guess this is the society we get from that: needing to check your bags at parks, needing to stow your bag and stuff belongings in your bra to enjoy music. Is this what winning looks like? Do you feel safer knowing any man with DV charges is on the same "even footing" as you? Do they have a GHB detector at the door too?
There are so many worse problems in my life, but this is one entirely in my control and requires my consent, so I'm just not participating. I'm not paying to be treated like trash anymore.
Edit: Stupid bag policy, as in a bag policy that is stupid. Like saying no bags. Saying one size online, then another in person. Only allowing clear bags. I don't judge people making wages, I just don't think they care to treat my things well if they are underpaid. Yes there are bigger problems in my life; until you give me a cancer cure I'm going to just take the W on things I can control.
