Any new recommendations to expand range?

Unless something has changed, an answer here seems like the likeliest best fix:

Basically buy a second hub.

My current hub is a VMB5000r6 in what i think is the current best spot using a powerline adapter. I think I'd have to get a second powerline device to add another one in the spot I'd like it to be. So instead i might actually try to run network cables in my crawlspace rather than do that, which would probably help things out anyway.

Would a newer hub be any better - I assume not since it's all just 2.4GHz

I have seen mention of adding new antennae to the hub, which I could do if it actually helps but opinion seems mixed on that.

I've got 4 cameras, all outside spread around the house, and the hub is in my split level "basement" which is about as central as I can get, but a couple cameras still struggle to connect. They seem mostly fine once connected but it makes all the processes take longer. Reconnecting them after charging, changing settings, etc... Occasionally they will just drop off and not reconnect though.

Any better ideas? Experience w/antennae vs second hub?
