You wake up and you are you. Can be any time of your life but you are first on earth. The first reaction is what I am looking at 😁

As a kid, we’d play in groups and had to decide what to play. In a group of 10, if 8 wanted soccer and 2 wanted football, we played soccer. The 2 could join in and have fun, or do their own thing. No harm, no foul — because tomorrow the vote might go the other way and we’d play football. Everyone got a turn. Everyone stayed in the group.
That’s not how decisions feel anymore. Now every choice has a winner and a loser, and nobody wants to be the loser, even on small things. The vote isn’t about what works for the group. It’s about which side gets to claim the win.
Somewhere between the playground and now, we stopped asking what was best for everyone and started asking what was best for our side. Maybe it happened slowly. Maybe we didn’t notice it happening. But the result is a world where being in the group matters less than beating the other group.
I’m not sure what changed. I’m not sure it can be changed back. But I think about that playground sometimes, and how nobody walked off the field angry.
