New work bag!

Picked up this beauty as my new work bag, the Ferragamo Hug Tote in Testa di Moro.

The colour is stunning and the leather is divine. It did tend to collapse inward a little, so I added a half-height bag insert, which fixed the issue perfectly.

It’s been great seeing the brand reinvent itself, and I’m excited to see where it goes next.

Exchanging a purchased Louis Vuitton item in a different country/region.

Hi all,

I hope this post helps anyone looking for guidance, as I struggled to find clear information leading up to my situation — particularly around purchasing an item in one country and exchanging it in another region.

Long story short, my husband purchased me a Louis Vuitton Speedy 35 in Japan during our honeymoon — a bag I had wanted for a long time. One afternoon he headed out on his own and surprised me with it that evening.

However, upon unboxing the bag, it was immediately clear something wasn’t quite right. The vachetta leather down both sides was heavily wrinkled as well as the gaps between the end of each zipper end and the bag itself which didn’t sit well with me for a brand-new item. I understand this can naturally happen over time with wear and ownership, but not straight out of the box.

We returned to the store the following morning. The staff were lovely, although understandably very process-driven. Because the item had not been purchased tax free, they advised they couldn’t exchange it in Japan. All I was hoping for was a straightforward swap. Sadly this has put a bad taste in my mouth when it comes to LV Japan.

Once we returned home to Sydney, Australia, my local Sydney Maison could not have been more helpful. They reserved a replacement bag for me that same day, and when I brought in the item along with the receipts, they processed a direct exchange without issue. There were no complications because the bag had been purchased in another region or due to tax status. They were clear, however, that refunds cannot be issued — which was completely fine, as I only wanted an exchange.

For additional reassurance, Louis Vuitton’s webchat team had also confirmed this process with me before I visited the store.

The replacement bag is perfect. It was beautifully repackaged in a fresh box with ribbon, and I was also issued a new receipt reflecting the exchange. The Sales Advisor immediately recognised the issue and explained that the Speedy had likely been folded incorrectly either during transit from the factory to Japan or by the store after unpackaging.

The store also confirmed that the UK and USA follow the same exchange policy, allowing exchanges within 30 days for eligible purchased items. Naturally, exclusions apply — such as used or worn items, missing tags, damaged items, or purchases without receipts.

I hope this helps someone in a similar situation. I’ve attached photos of the original bag I exchanged compared to the replacement bag I brought home (folded correctly).

TIP: Make sure you go over the item a few times prior to committing to your purchase if purchased in a country tax free that doesn’t offer an exchange even in the event the item doesn’t look or feel right. Sadly my husband doesn’t know what to look for 😂
