Since last year, whenever I open a video on YouTube (PC and mobile) it has an 80% chance of loading for 5-10 seconds before starting to play.

I've already tried updating the Brave components, clearing cache and cookies, reinstalling... and none of that helped - and it seems that the Brave developers simply gave up on doing anything about it, since, as I wrote, this has been going on for over a year.

The only solution is, when opening a video, refresh the page so that it starts without loading (but this is very frustrating and tedious to do every time).

I think that, finally, Google won the battle against adblocks and Brave...
