I posted something similar on the GalaxyTab sub but I wondered what people thought the impact of "Aluminium OS" (or whatever they call it!) could be on Android on Tablets and DEX?

We've seen plenty of leaks that the upcoming launch is going to see a few tablet devices from Lenovo, Asus and potentially Samsung too; obviously we need to see more about the OS itself but it would seem odd to me that they launch a more "powerful/productivity" oriented OS which is hugely based around Android and that has no impact - especially on the high end Galaxy Tab S series.

Personally I think "tablet" Android as it stands would be a hard sell cost wise v a similar spec "Aluminium" powered device if that's going to give us better "Desktop" style apps and a proper fully supported Desktop Grade web browser.

I'd probably prefer to see Android on tablets and the Aluminum OS merged (similar to what Apple do with iOS and iPadOS) leaving the less "powerful" "Desktop Mode" for plugged in phones and allowing tablet users to get access to things like a full desktop browser, etc.

Obviously we have the big launch of GoogleBook coming in the next couple of weeks which is heavily based on Android with a number of convertible/tablet type devices coming in the first wave.

What do we think is going to be the impact on Android tablets? I fear they're going to be stuck in some kind of limbo where they basically get stuck as "big phones" from an OS point of view and the new "GoogleBook" OS (whatever it gets called) takes all of the "Desktop" feature focus away.

Is it me or can you no longer choose to use other keyboards within Samsung DEX?

I know before you could use Gboard, etc (indeed I used to use that as a workaround to allow voice typing) - no matter what I do now I can't seem to get anything but Samsung Keyboard and I just wondered when it had changed?

I know many will just say "Don't use Word" but its not really an option for me.

However I'm having an issue when using Word (either the Mobile App or the Web Version) within DEX/Android Desktop - basically there seems to be a strange kind of auto-correct which constantly overwrites edits I'm trying to make and basically just reverts back to what was there originally. Also I often have to hit space twice to actually get a space!

Its incredibly annoying but only seems to happen on Android; has anyone else had similar issues?

Folks, just wondered if anyone would be interested in helping me test a new app I've been working on.

Essentially its an MP3/Music player heavily inspired by the MP3 players of the early 2000's with a few choices of control scheme which mimic the popular players of the era (iPod, Zune, Zen, etc).

Its got integrations with SMB/network shares to sync music and playlists and EQ, Cover Flow and even the ability to play video like in the old days!

If anyone fancies trying it let me know and I'll share a link! Its DEX compatible.

Hi everyone - just looking for a little advice - does the Honor MagicPad4 support using an external display with the PC Mode?

Just downloaded the One UI 9.0 beta for my S26 Ultra - not noticing huge differences in DEX; although one handy one is there's now an option to "Move to Another Desktop" via the Top Menu.

One biggie though; Multistar doesn't work so I think we're stuck with the default screen resolutions for now.

Looking for a little advice; I'm currently doing some clean up activity for a client in their SPO environment; it was migrated across mainly from legacy on-prem file shares and an old SP 2007 server so the structure isn't great.

However my first focus is on archiving old data and freeing up space; so far the new M365 File Level Archiving tool seems to be working fine, I've built a Powershell script that runs through a site and archives files based on a set of parameters (file age mainly).

However looking at versioning its currently set to the tenant default of 500 versions; I was planning to reduce this to 30 but as I understand leaving it to automatic might be the way to go now?

In addition I'd like to run a manual trimming exercise to massively reduce the amount of versions that are currently held and I was thinking it might be an idea to do this to a lower level, say 10 versions (which would then let them build up again as needed) - we have Rubrik for backup so I'm not too concerned about anyone losing versions of anything but wasn't sure if there's a best practice for this kind of thing!

I've got one of the latest 2025 Nexdock Models and generally I'm really happy with it; however one thing doing my head in is that despite it being fully charged and fully off the battery drain is awful; sometimes losing 10-15% overnight - should it be doing this?
