How these mountains came to be
How this river came to flow
Backwards, through my veins

I remember the water
Lapping at your feet
Crawling up your skin
As she pulls you skyward,
Intertwined in retreat

I remember that we are
Two droplets
Born from the weather
One at the mouth
One at the source
As the tide swells, we’re together
