Boutique rant

A couple of months ago, our full-time Specialty Boutique employee got into an accident, and the part-time employee quit. I applied for the position and got it. They told me they knew the full-time employee probably wouldn’t be coming back, so I would be promoted to the part-time SPBA position while still working full-time hours, but with part-time pay and no benefits.

I was also told that after 90 days in the position, the system would flag me for consistently working full-time hours and I would become eligible for benefits. They also said that once I officially became full-time, I would receive a raise.

Fast forward to a couple of days ago: the original full-time employee got a new job. My GM spoke with the district manager, and apparently they agreed to push for a nice raise because I’ve been the only person working in a two-person boutique, and I’ve gone above and beyond goals in a way they said they “haven’t seen before.”

Yesterday, though, they told me that corporate said the raise I received when I went from PBA to part-time would now be considered my “full-time raise.” It turns out I’m making significantly less than what the previous part-time employee was making. At this point, I honestly just feel defeated. 😮‍💨 anyway I just had to get this off my chest.
