Excess GWP and queue the new?

I’m a lead cash and none of my managers seem to know what to do with old GWP and QTN. I have stuff that has been sitting for months, and some stuff I can get rid of when someone buys from the brand but a lot of the stuff I am actively getting new stuff sent to use so it just creates more of a back log. What do your stores do with all this stuff???

rant

is there anyone we can call about our air? or have someone call corporate and complain? our air conditioning has been out since MAY and i live in south georgia so our outside temps are anywhere from 90° to over 100° plus humidity! we did get it fixed at the beginning of august but it's gone out again and they won't do anything about it. as a tasker, getting truck done while it's scorching hot INSIDE seems like a health hazard because we do truck 6pm-10pm so it's not like we can wear shorts. not to mention we can't have water on the floor and we can't keep water/gatorade stocked because the BA's are so greedy.

*EDIT thanks for all of your advice! i found out yesterday that it's not broken again, but a homeless man was found on our roof who had flipped the switch. guess the humming was disturbing his sleep??

Getting tired

Quick vent! I’ve been here 8 months and I’m a TA, my coworkers still refuse to learn my name, which id like to keep anon but they keep calling me the wrong name even though i pick up their shifts and they literally see my name on WorkJam to send it. Not to mention being micromanaged by the same coworker who CONSTANTLY calls me the wrong name. I know I do good work, I know I’m good at my job, but others get recognized for things I do without being asked. Not to mention I want to become a freelance makeup artist and asked a manager about getting a kit started and they acted like they didn’t know what I was talking about which was not the best way to find out I’m not only not allowed to freelance but I can’t build my kit with my discount AT ALL. Hours aren’t great and I’d like to stay in the beauty industry but found out I can’t work at Sephora while I work at Ulta. There’s so many restrictions just for minimum wage. I love my job I’m just tired.

Backroom blitz SOS

how many people are working the backroom blitz at y’all’s store? I’m confused because they said they gave me the hours to do it but basically I’ve had no help. I’m the MM so I already had a bunch of stuff to do on Sunday and barely got through any restocking and back stocking the backroom. I had one other person helping me and that’s it while my other tasker did the usual duties. Today it was just me again basically focused on it and I’m not even close to being done, I’m 8 months into my pregnancy so I’m super limited on what I can do and all my girls were doing planos. I had no one extra but apparently it’s my fault??? I mean if it is then okay but is this normal?? Where did the 27 hours go because that’s all I keep hearing is I had the scheduled hours for it so where did they go??

Lead cash

does anyone else hate or feel frustrated with being a full time lead cashier? I honestly don’t even think it should be a position at this point. The tasks we have to get done are overwhelming & almost impossible to do seeing as we’re expected to be on register 24/7. Schedules are never consistent, we have to drive sales, manage breaks, coach employees, authorize in the middle of our transactions, not allowed to have water, deal with rude customers, push events, manage gwps/gwp lists, use MPOS, hop on bopis all while being paid dog crap & micromanaged and under valued

edit: I also hate the fact that we are the only position expected to be working 24/7 and have to stay in the same spot for our whole shift. I’m sure somewhere in the business model of this position they could have let us GEL for a portion of our shift or allocate time for us to get our paperwork done while still being able to authorize for employees

Please showcase the artifacts that you found in your backroom. I transferred 3 months ago and found a box as old as 2020😅

gratis frequency

hey, i’m genuinely wondering how often we’re supposed to get gratis. i’ve been talking with my coworkers and we NEVER get gratis. i think ive gotten gratis five times in the 10-11 months i’ve worked for ulta and i keep seeing people get it monthly. we watch our BME’s and stuff (i don’t know if it’s still a thing that you need to watch BMEs to get gratis) so i genuinely don’t understand why we don’t get it. there’s two gratis boxes that came in that have been sitting in the office for abt two weeks now as well but this is the first time we have sight of any gratis basically all summer lol

Task shifts

I’m curious to know who makes the taskers schedule? I didn’t get scheduled at all this week which kinda sucked but I did manage to pick up a shift. I’m just curious who’s the one giving me 0 hours 💀

availability sheet being ignored ?

Hi so I am new to ulta i’ve been working at my store since the beginning of june and I was planning to only keep this job still school started back up (i am in college) but then things went sideways and so now i am staying till the next school year. When i first started i had open availability but over 3 weeks ago i submitted an availability change request form saying that i would only be available 7am-10pm on weekdays and 7am-12am on weekends and i thought that all was fine but they have scheduled me for 2 8am-12am shifts in the next few weeks and i was wondering if there was anything i could do about it other than getting my shifts covered ? Nobody wants to take them i’ve already tried and it’s just not sustainable for me since i will still be in school. am i just fucked lol

Speaking of Backroom Blitz…

Does anyone else’s store still have their Covid Vitrines? They’re the big clear plastic pieces that went overtop all the testers so people couldn’t use them. Would love to toss those babies

the new porefessional concealer

guys, i hate to admit this… but for once benefit was in the lab… the concealer, amazing. no creasing. I hate benefit, but i took a chance on it. it’s creamy but not super thick, it thins out when you blend but keeps good coverage. I would say it’s medium to full, buildable for sure (why do concealers that aren’t buildable even exist?). but i really do think yall should give it a try. now i can actually rec a benefit complexion product!

Sick and personal time

Hi everyone! I was just wondering if there’s anyone who knows when sick and personal time gets renewed? I’ve been working full time for 1 year and 2 months and live in Michigan (didn’t know if that’s necessary to know) I would ask my manager but I’m not in today and I’m impatient lol

Salon ear piercings

Is there a list of core capabilities all stylists have to have turned on? I was told I need to do ear piercings as it’s a necessary capability but I am absolutely not comfortable and don’t even think it’s a service Ulta should be providing.

Ulta AI?

It’s bad enough we have to deal with AI beauty briefs. But now my managers want us to use the new generative AI on the app to help customers IN STORE?? Customers come in store because they want A PERSON with experience to recommend them products, not regurgitating chatgpt bs to them that they could’ve looked up themselves. This company is a fucking joke and I was already one foot out the door. I didn’t stay loyal to this company for 4 years and put myself through esthetician school to just have my brain and knowledge be replaced by ai slop.

Ai scheduling is stupid

I am a tasker and have been a tasker for two years. I work Sunday Monday and Wednesday for the truck. Tonight they have me scheduled for "Selling" on a Thursday. I have never used a register while there. I asked my manager and she said "if that's scheduled that's what you're working for". They know my availability, I have a 2nd job. Luckily I'm off from it tonight but are they just going to ignore the availability sheet I filled out? Anyway, I'm kinda pissed because fuck having to directly deal with customers. I'm usually done before they come in so I've never had to help anyone besides tell them where sections are. The sole reason I took the job was because I didn't have to deal directly with humans and that's what they told me up front is that I would be behind the scenes. Before I get jumped on for "not wanting to do my job" I explained to the managers when I got hired that I have severe anxiety with customer service. They okayed it and told me not to worry. Well now I'm worrying.
