Higher Difficulty in Games

Out of curiosity, what is the best way you've seen a game implement a higher difficulty? I don't see many games do much more than the usual. The enemies usually just have higher HP, they oneshot you now, they slowly regenerate health, they have a different color, maybe a minor change in attack pattern, etc. For me, it usually just feels more tedious and time-consuming (i.e. every fight that takes 7 minutes now takes 30 minutes, and if you make a mistake or misinput, you have to start the fight all over again). Other than implementing better AI to enemies so that they can adapt to your playstyle, I can't imagine much more they can do.

What Do You Think the Game Needs To Do to Thrive?

Just out of curiosity, what are the main problems that you think needs to be fixed in order to make the game better? Is there anything that the game should do to attract more players? Do you think the new director will lock in and make the game thrive?

Fell in love with the game years ago, but stopped playing because I have a potato that can't run the game without crashing every 5 minutes. I hop back in every now and again to do dailies, but it feels like the game is slowly dying or is at least stagnant.

I don't have any ideas other than marketing the game better, or sponsoring some streamers to play a short story or something. They did it with Hololive and Nijisanji a few years back, but I think it was pretty poorly planned out, and the streams end before the game could really show its charm.
