He kills Subaru three times but only blames him once when Subaru causes Emilia's death after trying to confess about Return by Death (season 1 episode 17 & 18). He apologizes to Subaru for making him take care of Emilia from this point forward (season 2 episode 1). He breaks his contract with Emilia because Roswaal tampers with his gate which negatively affects his fighting prowess and ability to stay awake (not mentioned in the anime but fraud allegation for failing to prevent it can be made). Is there something else I'm missing?
