I have a 8 hours layover in Athens on my way to Toronto
This will be my first time traveling through Europe. My flight is:
- Toronto to Amsterdam
5 hour layover in Amsterdam
- Amsterdam to Doha
7 days in Doha
- Doha to Athens
8 hour layover in Athens
- Athens to Toronto
I will land in Athens at 7AM. I want to know if it would be possible to get out of Athens airport, just to visit the Acropolis and then come back. I have researched online and it says a taxi takes 40-45 mins each way and I can add max 1.5-2 hours of exploring. However, I do not know the reality of Athens airport, how long it typically takes to walk from the plane to immigration, go through the relatively new EES kiosks, and then come back (?) I dont want to be so close to Acropolis and not visit, but I cannot risk missing my flight either. Appreciate any advice!
